KUPAO KARTING: Dual-Track Safety Design Case
As the design team of KUPAO KARTING, we are committed to the core concept of “safety protection”. This karting venue features clearly separated zones for adults and children, balancing competitive racing with family-friendly experiences. This article presents the complete design details from the perspectives of layout, track design, safety barriers, and supporting facilities.
Overall Layout: Independent Operation for Adults and Children
The aerial planning rendering shows two clearly defined areas: the Adult Fuel-Powered Karting Track
(Main Track) and the Children’s Electric Karting Track (Secondary Track). The two tracks operate independently without interference, meeting the safe driving needs of different age groups.

🏎️ Adult Fuel-Powered Karting Track (Main Track)
The main track is the core of the venue, occupying most of the area.
-
Surface Material: Grey asphalt with white dashed lines clearly marking the racing line.
-
Safety Barriers: Red-and-white tyre walls line the edges of the track. At high-speed corners, the tyre walls are arranged more densely to effectively absorb impact energy.
-
Track Layout: An irregular complex circuit comprising long straights, S-shaped consecutive corners, hairpin turns, and combination corners – suitable for both high-speed driving and skill challenges, fully matching the performance of fuel-powered karts.
-
Supporting Areas:
-
The start/finish area is located on the left side of the track, with a start grid and a checkered finish line.
-
Multiple adult karts are neatly parked in the adjacent area.
-
The building with a red roof serves as the start tower, control centre, and rest area.
-
-
Buffer Zone: Large grassy isolation strips inside the track provide both aesthetic and cushioning functions.

🚸 Children’s Electric Karting Track (Secondary Track)
The children’s track is located at the lower left of the main track, forming an independent small closed circuit.
-
Surface Markings: Dedicated track with yellow lines.
-
Layout Features: Compact routing with more corners, and significantly lower difficulty and speed than the adult track – fully adapted to the power characteristics of children’s electric karts.
-
Size and Protection: The overall scale and corner radii are noticeably reduced. Tyre walls and other impact protection are installed around the track, specifically designed for safe driving by young children.
🌳 Venue Environment and Facilities
-
Landscaping and Lighting: Large grassy areas cover the isolation zones and the edges of the venue. Lighting poles are evenly distributed to support night-time operations.
-
Service Building: A long building with red trim on the left side of the venue serves as the integrated service building, housing ticket sales, a rest area, equipment rental, and vehicle maintenance.
KUPAO KARTING always places safety protection at the heart of design. In this case, from the densely packed red-and-white tyre walls at high-speed corners of the adult track, to the small-radius closed circuit and crash barriers specially designed for young children on the secondary track, and then to the grassy buffer zones and functional zoning – the concept of safety runs through every detail. We do not simply pile up protective devices; instead, we integrate safety into the track geometry, surface markings, layout of supporting facilities, and even green buffers. While preserving driving excitement, we provide a professional, controlled, and reassuring karting environment. This is KUPAO KARTING’s practice of “safety protection”: allowing racing passion to be released freely within a rigorous safety framework, and letting children grow happily in a dedicated protective space.
